2012 Mayfest Green Gallery Call to Art

Tulsa International Mayfest is seeking entries from area artists to participate in the Mayfest Green Gallery: “Metamorphosis.” The arts and crafts exhibition will be held in the Park Centre Lobby (6th & Main) during Tulsa International Mayfest, from Thursday May 17- Sunday May 20, 2012.

The Green Gallery is sponsored by Waste Management and was first displayed at Tulsa International Mayfest in 2010, and was inspired by Mayfest’s move toward a more sustainable festival. This year is the 40th Anniversary of Mayfest.

This year’s gallery seeks innovative and exciting art and craft that has been transformed from every day, recognizable reused, repurposed, and recycled materials. Artists are required to write a short description of the origins and uses of their materials. This is a juried show and awards will be given for Best Use of Material, Best in Show, and Juror’s Choice. Submissions are due on April 30th, 2012. Please consider the limited gallery space when creating your submission – contact greengallery@tulsamayfest.org with questions about the suitability of artwork size and weight.

SUBMISSION INFORMATION: All artwork submissions should be made via email, one image per email. Please put “Mayfest Green Gallery Submission” as the subject and provide artist name, phone number, email, title, media and price (if applicable) in the body of the email with each submission. Then, attach the image of your artwork to the email, no larger than 1 MB, and send to greengallery@tulsamayfest.org. Please limit your submissions to two works.

Artists whose work is selected will be notified by email by May 2nd. Please bring selected artwork to the Park Centre Lobby on Saturday, May 12th from 10am -2pm. Each piece must be titled, clearly labeled with contact information and ready to hang with wire or d-rings and framed if appropriate. Any special equipment must be provided by the artist. Artwork sales will be referred to the artist. Please note that neither Tulsa International Mayfest nor Kanbar Properties are responsible at any time for the loss, damage or theft of artwork. Submission of artwork constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus and shall further include permission to reproduce work for publication. Questions? Contact greengallery@tulsamayfest.org.
