Robert Frost’s poem featured in The Outsiders focuses on the cyclical aspect of nature, the purity of spring, and represents the innocence of adolescence. Johnny references the poem in telling Ponyboy to “Stay Gold.” To keep his eye for beauty and not be calloused by life. This Mayfest poster imagines Johnny’s sentiment of “Staying Gold” to represent the purity of continued care and support for Tulsa’s community and environment through the use of native flora.
